This visual and interactive activity triggered many interesting thoughts: “Don’t pull the strings! Don’t put your community down!”. Action worth more than thousand words. 👍🕸🧩

it was fun to visually explore the concept of a mean (average) number in grade 3/4 @Viscount_HWDSB using connecting cubes. Thank you @jkershaw2 @HWDSBmath for suggesting this practical strategy (e.g. for 5, 2, 7, 4, 2, the mean is 4, as 5 + 2 + 7 + 4 + 2 = 20, 20/5 = 4). 👍🔢☑️

On #RemembranceDay at @Viscount_HWDSB our Grade 3/4 class was focused on writing letters to brave soldiers in the past and present. Students had so many questions for the soldiers. They were very grateful and thankful for all their sacrifices. Lest We Forget 🙏

What do you want to be for Halloween? 🎃 October seems like the perfect time to share the story of Scarlett, a preschooler with an unconventional costume request - and her parents, who got creative and honored her wish. What was your little one’s favorite costume? Kudos to toystorydad on IG for both this sweet video and his top notch dad skills.

Want to prepare your baby for a lifetime of success? Make literacy a priority from the start. Surround your child with spoken and written language. Speak, read, sing. And model reading as a skill - and interest - of your own. (Remember there’s nobody your child wants to emulate more than you.) I love what this family has created, adding literacy to their daily mealtime routines. After each meal, the children hear books read aloud - which is followed by a short period of independent exploration with books. Look at how attentive these little guys are. At this age, start small… even a minute or two at a time can help start a lifetime habit. And never forget that literacy learning begins long before children enter kindergarten. Want them to do well in school? Don’t wait until they get there to begin. Does/did your baby have favorite board books? I’d love to add them to my list. This highly literate lunchtime was posted to IG by zaintwinzz.

Highlights of the 22/23 school year, Grade 3/4 GIRLS IN STEAM: This school year many of my female students took a leadership role in sharing their team-work building products, as well as their own individual science STEM projects. They inspired the others to get engaged in STEM.

Highlights of the 22/23 school year: Grade 3/4 Procedural writing: We read The Dot and Duck! Rabbit! We started from the dot, draw pictures, then wrote step-by-step instructions. The readers followed a procedure to draw the similar picture. We compared results and wrote comments.

Highlights of the 22/23 school year: Grade 3/4 STEM inquiry into process and problem solving of the stable structures. Amazing things happen when we plan how to bring the ideas and designs to life.

Struggling in an area outside your comfort zone doesn't crush confidence. It motivates excellence. Baseball data: after pitchers had unsuccessful at-bats, they were more likely to throw strikes & get the next hitter out. Failing beyond your expertise can fuel success within it.

Which one doesn’t belong? We were busy finding the mistakes and sorting 2D shapes into correct families. ☑️👍

Building mathematical thinking, making connections, problem solving @Viscount_HWDSB. How many smaller triangles with known areas can fit inside a larger triangle to calculate the total area of the larger triangle? Can you use the other shapes to find the area? I ❤️ Math Talk.

Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain—unless it is done with play, in which case, it takes between 10 and 20 repetitions! ~ Dr. Karyn Purvis
