⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Lochs and Glens 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️ As part of our new topic on Scotland we have been learning about Scottish landscapes. We used watercolour paint to create our own representation of Scottish lochs and glens. Aren’t they beautiful!?👨🏼‍🎨

We have started our block of Gymnastics in P1S! This week we focussed on holding a range of different balances. We challenged ourselves to use different body parts to do this.

Today, is ‘Wear-Something-Christmassy-Day’ for Strathcarron Hospice, an event organised by our second Pupil Parliament Group. 🎅🏼 🎄 If you are able to bring in a donation for this very special charity, close to our hearts, we would be really grateful. 💛 Thank you very much. 🙏🏼☺️

We loved coming together today for a festive Cosy Stories 🥰📚🔥🎄✨

P1 loved learning about the charity SCIAF with their P7 peers. They told us all about SCIAF’s mission, and how they work to protect human rights across the globe. 🌎🙏🏼✨ We have engaged in lots of dialogue about SCIAF’s work recently, so please ask us about this at home. 🥰🏡

We have also been learning about the Advent wreath and know that we light one candle each week of Advent and that each candle has different meaning: hope, peace, joy and love. We visited Mr Joyce’s office to look at our special school Advent wreath. Isn’t it beautiful?

🕯️ Advent 🕯️ We are learning that advent is a special time when we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We have prepared our classroom altar by changing the colour of the cloth to purple and each morning we light our advent “countdown”candle during prayers.

📚🔥☕️🍪Cosy Stories ☕️🍪🔥📚 Thank you so much to our parents/carers and learners who joined us last night for some hot chocolate, cookies and stories. We love seeing our learners inspired to open a book and sharing their favourite stories from school with their grown ups! 💛

Learning through play in Literacy in P1 this week 🔡✏️📚 We have been focussing on recognising letters and sounds we have learned, listening for and identifying sounds in CVC words, building sentences with our sight vocabulary and role play with our “Mini-Me”s and story sacks 🌟

We were fortunate to have a visit from some of our Nursery children who are transitioning into P1 next year! We were able to show them around the classroom and help them become familiar with their surroundings⭐️📚
