My student dressed like me for Hoco week 🤣 Today, Captain Lewis came to tell my students about opportunities the Army opened up for her (paid for her Master's degree) 🤯 We practiced inquiry and focused note-taking. Can't wait to complete their notes! @AVID_OGMS @AVID4College

These kids are amazing! AVID Schoolwide Night was a huge success! "Guess the Tuition" was tough, but we had great convos about public, private, in-state, and out of state tuition. A few lucky winners won an AVID shirt 🙌🏽 #AVIDfamily @AVID_OGMS @GoodnightSMCISD @AVID4College

AVID Excel completed and presented language script posters. I ❤️ the creativity they showed in the images they chose! More importantly, they learned the benefits of using academic language during structured conversations. #WeAreScholars 🙌🏽 @AVID_OGMS @GoodnightSMCISD

College one pagers a little earlier than usual, but a perfect opportunity to learn about "research." Students took notes on each college and started making observations about public vs private, in/out of state tuition, student population, and student to faculty ratio. @AVID_OGMS

Structured conversations and a carousel brainstorm on the importance of organization. Organization is a SKILL, but how often do we teach and practice it? Explicitly teaching, modeling, and making time for it helps our students see that "O" MATTERS! @AVID_OGMS @GoodnightSMCISD

@SanMarcosHSVB shoutout to Freshman Victoria Pardo for being recognized this past week by officials for her great character. She went out of her way in offering to help a ref set up a net as teams arrived. So proud of you Vic, way to represent! 🐍⬆️🏐👏🏽

Self reflection, especially about behavior is crucial for self awareness and improvement. Setting SMART goals, practicing oral presentations, and collaboration with others are skills that will make these students HS/college/career ready! We ❤️ AVID! @AVID_OGMS @GoodnightSMCISD

Another great week in AVID! Students finished SMART goals using their first IPR grade check forms. They started finding a partner for their "AVID students will... One Pager," and my student was SO excited to wear her Hurts jersey with me! #AVIDfamily @AVID_OGMS @GoodnightSMCISD

We've been working so hard to learn the AVID ways! Planners, guest speaker, taking notes, social contract, AVID contract, and building relational capacity with About Me presentations using @bulbapp 🥰 Today, we checked grades and set goals! @AVID4College @AVID_OGMS We cooked 🤣
