@mtgillikin I was told years ago that a new northern feeder pattern high school will never be built because it would turn AHS into an urban ring high school and they want to avoid that at all costs. The longer I life, work and have kids in the district, the more I believe it.

My school is going to be FULLY STAFFED for the first time in 7 years, (when school starts) and I feel so relieved! Every unfilled position affects the whole school, and we always felt like we were playing catch-up. I can’t wait to meet the new members of our JMS team!

To be clear, I’m NOT talking about McIntyre kids…they know better than to lie to my face like that! I’m talking about students who forget that I’ve got nothing but persistence and receipts at this point in the year. I’ll sit here allllllllllll day and help you finish this work.

Me: Do you have missing work in any classes? Them: No Me: [opens PowerSchool & looks at their grades] REALLY?? Them: ok yes, but they are on paper & I don’t have them. Me: (pulls out a folder of papers I went and got from their teachers) That’s ok. I do. Them:

I absolutely hate being the last local school division to get out of school. Most surrounding counties are done and we are sitting here babysitting until June 7th. (Yes, I said babysitting. SOLs are over and these kids are DONE listening and behaving 😆 )

@teachjourno @NicholasFerroni Doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Mike Miles has pretty much wreaked havoc in every district he’s been in. I was a teacher in one of the districts and it was miserable. Thank goodness I got out.

@NicholasFerroni Our superintendent used Teacher Appreciation Week to send pink slips to teachers, entire district maintenance staff, and some principals. HoustonISD is a dystopia. Our children are the pawns.

The sad truth is that I can’t support our family with my teaching salary alone. We live modestly and both drive old (paid off) cars- but we need my spouse’s income! If the government shuts down, it’s going to be really tough for a lot of people, not just us. 😳

More reasons why we need collective bargaining— please support APCS staff and the AEA in our fight. Speak out, write the school board, help where you can. Many of us are at our breaking point— things need to change!

I can’t just sit back and be silent. Am I worried about retaliation at my job, yes, but I’m one of those in survival mode…2022 Staff Overall Satisfaction-14% 2023 Staff Overall Satisfaction-9%! ACPS, how can you not see the problem. #nomorelies
