This semester's @jagsofjefferson #jaguarjungle Culture Club (2nd & 3rd grade) has been learning about other countries and their traditions. Our focus on Mexico included learning about #DiaDeMuertos with marigolds memories and pictures of loved ones. #iamwfisd #bebold

This is the month when the grind of the school year starts to get to us. Our patience wears a bit thin, we feel tired, & we start to question whether our hopes & dreams for this school year can happen. Educators, take care of yourselves and each other. Encouragement and grace.

@HPrestonEdu YES! I can't tell you how many times I've just talked through something out loud with a coworker and gotten to a solution. Listening to LISTEN and not RESPOND is a great gift.

A5 One easy way to empower a coworker is to listen. Sometimes having a person to bounce ideas off of is all the encouragement someone needs to take a risk and try something new. #WFISDchat

@HNAPrice3rd Love it! I try to do this by giving staff birthday cards as well. Saying things in passing is great, but those handwritten notes are what I LOVE to look back on!

A5 - I love this question because I feel like it will help me be intentional about encouraging my teaching family. I plan to write affirmations for teachers I don't often get to talk to just to let them know how amazing they are. #WFISDchat

A5. I can offer a new tech tool to use, or ask how I can best help them. Sometimes my best-laid plans don't align with what teachers/staff need most- whether that's a Sonic drink, a shoulder to cry on, tech troubleshooting, or something else. #WFISDchat

@astylishteacher I wish I'd had more AP teachers who understood this- all AP students aren't the same!

A4: I create many customized activities with built-in differentiation. I add in video and other supports. Some need it, some don't. I try to recognize what Ss need to be successful. That might just be a different approach, example, etc. Even in AP classes this is impo. #WFISDchat

A4: At the very beginning of school each student writes down 1 thing they need to succeed. I make a list and frequently refer to that list. I want to make sure I everyone has what they need to succeed ❤#WFISDchat

A4. Tough when only seeing them 1x/week, but I work to assess who needs more 1-to-1 time with readers advisory, who needs more guidance in staying on task, etc. I try to make our library a place where students can be themselves, without labels or levels guiding them. #WFISDchat

A3 We empower our Ss by giving them the tools/support to be successful & take ownership of their own learning. We empower them by listening and giving them a voice in the classroom. What we don't do is give them an easy out. We hold high expectations for all Ss. #WFISDchat

A3: Giving students clues and resources versus answers is the best way that I empower them. At first they hate me... but later they appreciate me! They become problem solvers #WFISDchat
