Today marks an important milestone in our journey at Sumic IT Solutions Ltd (@SumicUg) In August 2025, our company was selected as one of the 10 ITES and BPO companies in Uganda to participate in the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships (UKTP) Programme, implemented by the International Trade Centre (@ITCnews) and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Over the past months, we have gone through an intensive journey of learning, strategy development, and international market preparation. The programme brought together experts, mentors, and industry leaders who helped us refine how we position our services for the global market, particularly the United Kingdom. This week we concluded the programme with the Final Export Marketing Plan (EMP) Validation & Certification Workshop. This process pushed us to think deeper about: ✅ How Ugandan tech companies can compete globally ✅ How we structure our services for international clients ✅ How we build systems that meet global compliance standards ✅ And how we position Ugandan digital talent for global opportunities For me personally, this experience reinforced something I strongly believe in: African technology companies have the capability to serve the world, we only need the right strategy, standards, and partnerships. I am grateful to the International Trade Centre, the UK Government, the UKTP programme team, and all fellow cohort companies who shared this journey with us. The platform (@ebetpafrica) is helping bridge the digital divide in underserved tourism destinations by empowering over 1,000 tourism-related Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Uganda. Through the platform, local tourism products and services can be uploaded, showcased, marketed, and sold to tourists through a centralized digital marketplace. There was a time in my teenage years when I would read and study the journey of Jack Ma and the rise of @AlibabaGroup with so much admiration and inspiration. Back then, it felt like a distant dream, one of those stories you learn from, but never imagine becoming part of your own reality. I never thought that one day I would personally visit the headquarters of @AlibabaGroup, walk through the environment where one of the world’s most transformative technology companies was built, or even get the opportunity to see Jack Ma with my own eyes. Yet life has a powerful way of reminding us that the world is truly one global village. What once seemed incredibly far away became a journey of less than 13 hours and over 8,500 kilometers, leading me to Alibaba Xixi Campus in Hangzhou 🇨🇳 For me, this was more than just a visit. It was a defining moment of exposure, learning, inspiration, and possibility, one that will forever remain part of the history and growth journey of Sumic IT Solutions Ltd (@SumicUg) Moments like these remind me that vision, consistency, and purpose can open doors beyond what we originally imagine. They also remind me of the importance of institutions and organizations that intentionally create opportunities for emerging innovators and entrepreneurs across the world.
