Everyone did an INCREDIBLE job with their genetic family trees! Students looked at a specific trait over three generations to see if each family member has the dominant or recessive trait 🧬🌳

We loved having Firefighter Courtney from the Apex Fire Department join us today to teach us more about fire safety! 🔥🚒🧯👩🏼‍🚒

Reading our Q1 EL mentor text, we found how each chapter fit into the structure of the story with the “plot rollercoaster.” We spent 12 whole chapters out of 14 JUST on rising action! This class deserved a special sticker to commemorate our journey with their fave daily quote 😆

Our class did an incredible job this week learning about life skills! We learned how to address a letter, set alarms to wake ourselves up, and order for ourselves at a restaurant ❤️

We celebrated Earth Day before Track Out with a campus cleanup to show our love for our school and the Earth✨🌎🚮

Exploring with some super neat math manipulatives today to begin our unit on multiplying fractions by fractions! 🤓✖️

To celebrate earning our 300th class spot today, we made a MASSIVE “candy salad” to share together!! So much fun 🎉

So proud of the hard work from our class to create posters about the most important personal quality that led to the success of Jackie Robinson and a 2nd athlete of their choice. They even integrated a tool called Makey Makey to make their posters “speak!” @SalemElementary ⚾️⚽️🏈

Seeing this week’s focus word, “perseverance,” in action during afternoon meeting with this minute to win it challenge! 💪🏼

This week, we discussed the power our words hold with the help of an activity while reading Chrysanthemum. Also, I shared my collection of cards & letters I started when I was only 5! We discussed the positive impact a small note saying you’re thinking of someone can have 🗣️🩷
