@drvyom Yes but those with intrinsic criminogenic factors are a minority esp amongst younger offenders. Plus the idea that imprisonment protects the community is a lie - the country with the highest imprisonment rate also has the highest recidivism rate in the good old U-S-A

@MsFeminista I think that is significantly true. Additionally mental health crises are poorly dealt by systems. But there are also people with intrinsic criminogenic factors very unlikely to be rehabilitated, at very high risk of recidivism, who should be imprisoned for incapacitate them.

In two decades as a psychologist with a 100% Indigenous caseload I have personally seen no examples of children who have become better psychologically, mentally and in terms of contribution to society as a direct result of a prison sentence.
