It’s been an incredible experience learning and teaching with Class 1 @ReadALotLDSB . From morphology to fluency, we did it all! Thank you, Southview RAL team for a fantastic learning and teaching experience!
Reminiscing on our fantastic last day yesterday. To culminate our hard work on our Fluency Poem, “Who Likes The Trees Best?” we performed our poem for Class 5, and then listened to their poem. Thank you for an amazing 3 weeks, @ReadALotLDSB ! It has been amazing!
Today when learning new prefix re-, one of my Class 2 stars made a real life connection to the word, “reorder”. She shared, “I reorder sprinkle donuts because they are the best!” She was excited about her word sum and drawing, and so she shared them on the board. @ReadALotLDSB
We had lots of fun connecting our Oral Language and Writing Skills (expanding sentences) today by discussing a photograph from earlier in the week. I had to share one of our excellent speakers’ expanded sentence. ❤️ @ReadALotLDSB
We’ve been learning to expand sentences with conjunctions “because” and “but”. Today, we reviewed, and added “so”. Class 2 students proudly shared their finished sentences on the board when done. At the end of the day we shared, “I have worked hard at RAL so…” @ReadALotLDSB
After learning many suffixes (and 1 prefix!) over the past 2 weeks, we were ready to tackle a word matrix today. Look at all these word sums :). @ReadALotLDSB
After partner fluency reading, all of our learners in Class 2 stand up in front of the class to share their favourite page from their decodable text. We are so proud of how we are learning to read with accuracy, phrasing, expression, and with a good pace. @ReadALotLDSB
One of my favourite parts of the day is our Celebration of Learning. Students proudly share something they have accomplished from the day and sometimes share a sample from their writing. Today each learner shared, “I know I am becoming a better reader and writer because ___.” 🎤
I’m so proud of my group 2! They have been working so hard to master ending sound -y in 1-syllable words (my, sky, fly). They were very proud of the sentences they wrote at the end of their small group lesson today. 🎉❤️ @ReadALotLDSB
Southview’s Class 2 @ReadALotLDSB LOVES targeted, explicit small groups! This group has been working very hard on reading and writing with -VCC ending patterns. We can’t believe we are already done week 1!
Day 4 in Class 2 at Southview @ReadALotLDSB Some highlights include our Morphology lesson where we learned to speak, read, and write with suffix -s. We also enjoyed some movement breaks during transitions. One student requested push ups before our whole group UFLI lesson! 😂💪
Day 3 ✅ @ReadALotLDSB in Class 2! Today, we practiced writing questions and sentences by creating interview questions for our new friends. We then shared them during Oral Language at the end of the day. ☺️ Check out 3rd pic to see how we spell words before we ask for help.
