Yesterday we were able to take a fabulous group of our eighth graders from @RPS_SBA to the #NCTE24 convention so they could teach some teachers about performing Shakespeare! @FolgerED thanks for having us!

@epiphanyinbmore Lear is a better pair with the book, I think; the TV show adopted Hamlet in some really interesting ways, but there are more Lear references in the book.

Planning on teaching Station Eleven paired with King Lear this fall. Should I choose Hamlet instead? I’ve never taught it and don’t know it like I know Lear well, but is the novel (NOT tv show) better paired with Hamlet? If you know both, let me know please

@RebekahODell1 Linda Holmes’s review of Insatiable is pretty amazing, but might now be right for MS.

@RebekahODell1 My first school had a staff council; I can see what info I still have about how it operated/was organized.

Starting senior year with college essay unit. I think I'm going to push John Green's The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet in today's department meeting. I love it. I hope the kids do.

@TalksWTeachers Also, stay focused on the skills that you are trying to develop in the students in the novel. Content is great and fun, but students can understand content on their own if they are taught the skills they need to do it. Was once told "we teach students not books". Skills> Content

I’m working on a post about something I was never taught in my teacher prep program — how to plan a novel unit. If you had to give a masterclass on it, what would be your key insights? #aplitchat #engchat #ncte
