The social-emotional needs of students cannot be met if teachers and staff are not in a good place themselves. Stress and exhaustion can be contagious. Encouragement and kindness can be just as contagious. Admin: Support your people with all you have. They need it.

Focusing too much on the past will dull your essence

Told my scholars I might get fired soon for refusing to work in an unsafe school building. There were many tears. No teacher should be forced to pick between their life and their livelihood.

Wednesday should be an asynchronous workday for schools now and forever.

Teachers, As you interview for new positions, ask the admin questions too. What is their leadership style. How do they exhibit it? How do the improve morale, how do they support teachers? etc. If they can't or are uncomfortable answering these, proceed w/ caution.

Planned for small groups... nobody showed up 😔😔 but to be honest, these kids shouldn’t even have to be on the screen for this many hours a day, so I’m not even mad about it.
