A stick figure png is more interesting, engaging, and impressive than ai. There are free models and if you are creative, you can turn a doodle on the side of your notes into a cool concept just by taking a photo of it and removing the bg. I don’t think people realize that the ai avatar isn’t what is gonna garner you success. You still have to work hard and have talent, or be entertaining.

Okay, this is random but I'm calling on my horse girls for help. Does anyone have some ancient collection of old Dover Saddlery Catalogs? I'm looking for a specific issue from the early 2000s.

I did say back in March that I was writing a guide for VTubers looking to hire help - in light of EVERYTHING(TM) that's happened as of late with Luminara/Camana, I guess this thing has...expanded... For those of you who already find this whole list overwhelming - I get it! I plan to deliver chunks of this whole thing as FREE standalone advice pieces on X, Substack, the Lorecrafters site, and YouTube over a period of time (payment not needed, though tips/Throne contributions to my drink or yarn fund are appreciated.) So you can take your time and digest things. This Table of Contents is absolutely NOT final, and I won't claim for this to be "the only guidance you'll ever need" here. But my hope is that it'll help anyone reading this (even if it's just a section) to be more empowered to ask the right questions. And yes - as this industry evolves, I absolutely plan to continue updating future editions even after this is released as a standalone compilation. If you're new here and you're looking for a taster of my thinking + writing: #RAINArambles contains a bunch of my industry thoughts that are less-curated. These chapters + the full guide will be written in MUCH more accessible language than my posts, and should hopefully be easier to read (less visually overwhelming). You might see differences between the standalone chapters and the version that makes it into the final guidebook, and that's normal. And for those who find it hard to deal with text because "VTubers can't read" (groan) - yes, I'll be expanding into videos/shorts. (Or if anyone wants/has audiobook narration experience, please hit me up.) It's going to be a longer-haul project, especially since I have a creative studio team to nurture and client projects to run alongside - but I'd love it if you followed along as I build this live, with help from some really good people along the way 🙏 And if you're wondering "why a book/so many pieces"...it's because some things JUST require book-level nuance. You don't have to read/listen to it all in one sitting, and some concepts/info may take a few passes to fully sink in, which is normal. Just know that you don't need to know EVERYTHING in here to start hiring help as a VTuber, let alone to thrive as one. Let me know if there's anything you'd love addressed - I'm already spotting a few gaps myself :3

@Momoomiw It depends on my relationship with the artist. If we haven't worked together a lot, professional is nice, but if we've done a ton of projects together, I would hope it devolves to a more friendly and casual tone. Just depends on how well you know each other!

Pro tip: If you you ever think your art is ass, just remember you don't use ai and any single line you draw is better than any slop gen ai puts out :)

@Joysulem In order for the AI to correctly interpret your request, it has to have fed on hundreds and thousands of scraped images and metadata from other artists to know what an orc is. THAT is the theft. It is literally impossible for one artist to provide enough data for GenAI to work.

How to drop a nuclear bomb on they small brain over the pedestal logic? What about i do my sketch and do a simple drawing and i tell the ai use the same silhouette and make a orc on that pose. @queensblade1100 @Joysulem @MiiaTzu Respectfully, model art is not just a photo. It's all of the artwork cut up into hundreds of layers for use in model rigging. The hair on my model alone is 60 layers of art for it to be rigged to move the way it does. That's what you pay the big bucks for with "just the art."

@Joysulem @MiiaTzu Exactly. I can understand paying like 100 or maybe 200 depending on quality but for a photo nah fam 20 or 30 bucks at most

I have used AI in thumbnails, yes. But I am trying to move toward using real commissioned art. That should be seen as supporting artists, not as a reason to blacklist me from commissioning them.
