I had the pleasure of presenting at the Summer Literacy Institute on the importance of BookLove and school-wide read-alouds. I can’t wait to utilize what I learned in the breakout sessions from such talented educators to facilitate the best learning experience for my students!

Let the book club begin! Here are just a few selections that will provide students with "windows and mirrors" into growing awareness of larger societal pressures. Students will have ownership over their learning and experience how reading transforms how we see others. #ELA

It's safe to say team 7-1 loved reading The Outsiders so much that they dressed up as Greasers and Socs. These young adults learned that people are not all that different from one another, and explored the idea of social issues that existed in the 1960s and current day.#Booklove

Our 7-1 students created their literary works of art to convey key details about characters from the infamous novel "The Outsiders". The gallery walk had students moving as they explored new concepts and analyzed how ideas can be organized and expressed differently.
