I’m 32 years old and I want to change the state pension.
With the triple lock, based on historical growth (4.5%) when I reach my pension age.
The state pension will be £30,100 a year.
This would account for £512bn a year.
The current government budget is 1.2Trn.
This would be 3x the current NHS budget.
The triple lock is unsustainable.
Now the debate, no one is saying that pensioners shouldn’t recieve support. That goes without saying.
But there shouldn’t be a non-means tested, non contribution based pension which gives everyone blanket support.
Especially when you consider 1 in 4 of over 60 years are asset millionaires.
My view is, we need to have a means tested only state pension.
Which is reassessed every 3 years.
There is no “pot” people pay into, national insurance is just a tax - there is no ring fenced fund for a state pension. It comes directly from taxation ever annum.
Without changes like this, young people will suffer while older people - who receive their pension and political protection because they actively vote - will continue to have a glorious quality of life.

It’s possible to check the political and personal donations for everyone on that list bar one and that is Ellie Reeves. She has been the MP for Lewisham West/Penge since 2017 yet there is absolutely no published record of the political donations she’s received in the last eight years: nothing. Nothing on the various Register of Interests websites and nothing on the @ElectoralCommUK website. This does seem strange to say the least. She’s one of the most powerful individuals in The Labour Party:

Yesterday, supporters of the genocidal Zionist entity managed to sabotage the Green Party’s Spring Conference.
Their goal was to ensure that Motion E12 “Zionism is Racism” was not voted on - because they knew it would pass.
In the end, they succeeded through hours of tortuous obstruction and filibustering.
But members managed to add an emergency 15 minutes on to the end, which allowed enough time for the proposer of the motion to speak for 3 minutes. These words finished the proceedings.
They were spoken by Lubna Speitan, a Palestinian Green Party member and co-author of the historic motion.
Zionists spend their whole lives trying to shut down and silence Palestinians. Yesterday they tried again, but failed. Lubna’s powerful, moving words broke through the wall - and will now go down in history.

Dear Zack— in answer to the below… like you, I’m appalled by genocide.
But unlike you, I understand its meaning: the deliberate eradication of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
Israel is not doing this . It is not at war with innocent civilians, but with terrorist leaders whose stated aim is the destruction of Israel and that of Jews worldwide—including you and I. (And with no regard to the cost of their own people)
That is the definition of genocide. Which is why your accusations are befuddled.
There has also been no ruling from any high-level international court that Israel is committing genocide . So why repeat this trope?
Baseless genocide claims fuel Jew hatred . As a Jewish political leader (and not the first, despite your claim), surely you agree that is unacceptable ?
So please. Tackle the alarming antisemitism in your own party —rather than attack Jewish journalists with credible views. That’s leadership.
