After learning about slow and quick changes to the earth, we talked about fires in Australia and how quickly it is changing the land.The students decided they would help by collecting coins for a koala foundation. These second graders did an amazing job and raised $1,789.18!!!

Today is Global Kindness Day, but this kiddo shows kindness everyday by bringing me a little flower after recess and holding the door for all of the teachers. #heritagebekind2019 @Heritage_TUSD

Yesterday we were in the picking stage of our writing process. They were having their partner read all of their drafts to see which was their best piece. Such concentration! @Heritage_TUSD

On the 4th day of school I threw a challenging problem at my kiddos, and in groups they got to solve any way they could. We did a gallery walk as our share out, and I loved seeing their interest in other students’ strategies! #tusdthrives @Heritage_TUSD

Day of Design Challenge: create a game that could be played at recess on the playground. These students rose to the challenge and went through the entire design process today and their finished products were so creative! #TUSDthrives @Heritage_TUSD

We have been reading ‘The Wild Robot’ and today during our morning meeting the students got into mini grand conversation groups and they discussed whether they would want to be Roz or Brightbill. There reasoning behind it was great! @Heritage_TUSD

We had a traveling scientist come yesterday and he taught us so much out the 5 R’s (recycling,reuse, repurpose,rot and reduce). @Heritage_TUSD

PBL came to life today as the awesome volunteers from the Marine Lab at Concordia came to share their knowledge of habitat diversity! Our innovation lab was a great place to host those neat creatures! @Heritage_TUSD #TUSDthrives
