Whenever we have a drill and I have to step out of my classroom just to lock my door, it terrifies me to think that anyone in the hall could be the shooter. It’s my job to see how fast I can get the door locked to protect the kids inside. How is this normal?

Let’s keep raising substitute pay but give absolutely zero bonuses for our teachers who have gone above and beyond their normal duties and try to create a somewhat normal classroom environment for our kids. This is why teacher retention is plummeting after this year.
