It is true that this one white kid did need mental health care and possibly wouldn’t have committed an act of violence if he had received it. It’s also true that when black children get in trouble, the focus isn’t on how we failed them.

@Amy_M_Ryan @NBedera I found the first one pretty terrible, and I cramped for days after. When I had it replaced, the second insertion was less painful (and also faster).

@ProfMoneyBags Try the float test first; if they don’t float to the top, break one and sniff it. If it smells ok, cook it and taste a nibble. If all tastes ok, probably safe.

@Mrs_Puns That’s what I’m saying. Also, all I can taste is the extremes of sweet, salty, spicy, or acidic. No nuance within those tastes. Very annoying.

And this week, I did get it. Probably from a student who came to school sick because officials didn’t communicate the policies about quarantining until tested (because they don’t actually want kids getting tested because then they’d have to admit it was spreading in schools.)

But, you know, full steam ahead on standardized testing anyways. We have 4 different tests schedule this month.

And when students do test positive and report, no one informs the teacher or other students in the class that they’ve been in close contact. And with all the teacher absences, we don’t have enough subs, so teachers are covering, further increasing our exposures.

My intern, who drives me crazy during observations, started following my real Twitter sometime recently (I just now noticed) and is tweeting to me and about me…nothing bad, but it still feels like a boundary crossed. I don’t want to interact with her on social media. 😑
