Our Mystery Unit is officially underway, and the excitement is building! Students are stepping into the role of detectives, sharpening their observation and critical thinking skills as they work to crack each case. @polk_street

March is Women’s History Month! Our class spent time researching women who have changed the world through their strength, courage, and determination. We celebrate the women who came before us, the women making a difference today, and the girls who will lead the future.

In science, we are exploring how animals adapt to their environments. Today we became scientists and tested which bird beak was best at picking up different types of food. @polk_street

We had an amazing time during our Story Elements reading unit! We loved gathering with our book clubs to dive into our stories and share our thinking. Another highlight was our read aloud of Because of Winn-Dixie. We enjoyed it so much that we celebrated by watching the movie!

3H and 1F had a great time reading aloud our favorite books to our buddies on World Read Aloud Day!

Students created their own candy boxes to practice naming and comparing fractions. Learning never tasted so sweet!

We’ve started learning about story structure and story elements in reading! We explored different picture books with our partners and talked about characters, setting, and theme. The class is very excited to begin our read aloud of Because of Winn-Dixie!

Thank you Dr. Trotta for coming in and presenting Better, Not Bigger! We learned that when problems come up, we should look for ways to make them better instead of bigger. Your message helped us think about our choices and how to handle challenges in a positive way. @polk_street
