Hi, my name is pronounced Sosan Nawzim and @NeetuGarcha inspired my students and I to re-introduce ourselves using our real names. #sd36learn

What’s in a name? I explored that question for my article: globalnews.ca/news/7755403/n… Check it out for more on what I heard from linguistics experts, people who’ve had challenges with their own names, how I’ve been saying mine wrong most of my life and why I decided to stop now.

Yesterday @Tamanawis students organized a “brown girl sleepover” event where they discussed issues that young brown women face while also facilitating a panel discussion with an inspiring group of community leaders! So proud of their hard work! #sd36learn #careerEd

I consider myself so lucky to get to teach at my previous grade 7 students’ high school and to get to see them grow into beautiful adults with such bright futures. #FullCircleMoment @Surrey_Schools

Biggest takeaway: Each classroom is like traveling to a diff country. The child doesn’t change, but the barriers do. Our job is to work on removing these barriers. The less barriers around, the fewer resources will be needed. @tweetsomemoore @KatieNovakUDL #InclusivePractices

@MrMagsOffice Time in class should be provided to practice skills taught and allow students the opportunity to ask for help. Those who don’t get it done could be expected to finish it for homework.

@MrMagsOffice I agree that additional work shouldn’t be assigned for homework as many students don’t have someone at home to help (language barriers, working parents etc.), some have extra-curricular activities, & some have part-time jobs.
