If you ask me, we have AGI. Yes, there are still subtleties, but AGI is basically there. We have reasoning (system-2 thinking according to Kahnemamm), we have general intelligence across all areas of knowledge and we have approaches to self-learning. The impact will be clearly visible in a few years. But somehow everyone seems less surprised, less shocked than expected. It's almost as if AGI has become something like the norm. Whereas AGI used to be the holy grail, it is now superintelligence. The demands have shifted. Sam Altman writes in his blog that ASI will become a reality in a few thousand days and Ilya Sutskever is researching save superintelligence. AGI has arrived faster than expected and will certainly be a reality by 2025. But somehow it all seems less spectacular than expected. Well, then ASI is now the holy grail. Let's see if people are more impressed.
