Another attempt was their third goal against Brighton. ▶️ Crossing lines to disrupt the marker. ▶️ Gain jumping momentum (Onana). ▶️ Fake disruption to the goalkeeper (Knosa), then use a real blocker from behind (Rogers).

But why? Because they will use the near player to gain a dynamic advantage on the far post, escaping their marker with movement.

Aston Villa's set-piece routine applied the same principle in two groups (stacks) 1. One stack takes momentum with the run. 2. The other stack disrupts the GK's movements.

@fahdahmed987 It's not the same, the idea is to have one player totally responsible for the goalkeeper, is you can't have a free player, or you will be -1 if you are totally man2man Here the women's team have one pressing the gk, but she is responsible for the LCB too, which is normal idea

Fun fact: The Manchester City women's team pressed Chelsea in the same manner as the men's team (vs. Brighton) when they played on Friday. The striker (Shaw) pressed the goalkeeper (Hampton), who's very good on the ball. But rather than the right winger (Hemp) pressing the Chelsea center-back (Bright), it's Shaw who pressed Bright. Interesting to see Guardiola and Jeglertz try the same tactics against the opposition's build up.
