@JeffOllerton @KazOhashi_Lab For sure! (and we just read @KazOhashi_Lab's great review in lab meeting, thanks Kaz!) But it's like how desert-adapted implies something different than simply desert-dwelling. Actually I think that's the more straightforward solution to reduce jargon, "fly-adapted flowers"...

@Muchhala_Lab Thanks Nathan, that's true in some cases, sure. But if the definition excludes other important flower visitors, as per the LEPP that @KazOhashi_Lab so eloquently discussed at #IBC2024, then the -philys are surely misleading, right?

Certainly not all academic writing - some of us are trying very hard to write in a broadly accessible way and, especially, cut the jargon! My latest pet hate being "rhinomyophily" - just call it what it is - pollination by long-tongued flies!
