The UAE declared 2026 the Year of Family. It built your life. Dubai doesn't just host people, it keeps them. Most cities get expats for a few years. Dubai gets them for life. Not because of the tax-free salaries or the skyline, but because somewhere along the way it stops feeling temporary. You stop saying "when I go back home" and start saying "this is home." I've built my career here, raised my family here, and made friendships here that have nothing to do with business cards or networking events. That's rare for a city that moves as fast as this one. So when the UAE declares a Year of Family, it doesn't feel like a government campaign. It feels like an acknowledgment of something a lot of us already figured out along the way.

The recent Gulf tensions hit tourism harder than most operators expected. Some restaurants saw revenue drop 50–70% in March and April alone.
