The long sunset: why shutting down a prayer at Rubaga Cathedral and attempted stop of a bishop’s letter to Rwenzururu Queen signal arrival of a Ugandan ‘petty dictatorship’. #story" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">monitor.co.ug/uganda/oped/co…

As part of the Women2025+ campaign spearheaded by the Netherlands Ambassador together with five other female ambassadors and their identified male +1s, I partnered with the Danish Ambassador. Among other activities in the initiative, I drew seven cartoons on various women rights issues. Six of them were auctioned yesterday evening at the @DKinUganda Ambassador’s residence, from which about 7.5m was raised. Thanks to all that participated. I had the privilege to decide what the money should be put to. It will be used to buy reusable pads for school going girls in a refugee camp in Adjumani. It has been such an elating experience, a great feeling to be there for the less privileged.

Maama and I were happy to host our Bazzukulu at our Kisozi Farm earlier today, ahead of the Jazz with Jajja (Ranch Edition). I showed them some of my herds, including Ekyigondo, which now stands at over 700 cows. These are the Encundwa. They belonged to my late mother, Kokundeka for making ghee. It is important to preserve what our forefathers entrusted to us and pass it on to the next generation.

American actor Tyrese Gibson [he of Fast & Furious) call to Black men worldwide to get serious about generational wealth, and how sacrifice without structure often leaves families exposed: “[Black men] show up. We keep food on the table. We raise children into teens, teens into adults, adults into legacy… “Too often, when the head of the household is gone, there’s nothing left behind. No assets. No ownership. No blueprint. No inheritance. That has to change. “Generational wealth is not a dream — it’s a responsibility. Something tangible must remain when we’re long gone. That work starts now.” .@AlowoMatovu ghanaplus.com/showbiz/tyrese…

"When I fly over the Cattle Corridor and see the nice, well-fenced, bush-cleared farms of dairy and beef cattle in the previous Iruungu (wilderness) of that zone of our Country; over the Masaka — Rakai — Ssembabule area with the Coffee gardens in may be 60% of the homes; over Kalangala with the Palm-trees for oil; over the Teso area with the Citrus gardens; over the Bundibugyo and Mukono areas with the Cocoa and Coffee gardens; over the Bushenyi — Isingiro areas with the banana gardens; over the Zombo areas with the Arabica Coffee; over the Bugisu areas with Arabica Coffee; etc etc; you realize that our efforts have not been in vain and anybody who downplays these achievements, is an enemy of Uganda. This is even before you talk about the huge sugar-cane plantations in Busoga and Bunyoro; the Palm oil plantations in Maruzi, Lango; the sugar-cane plantations in the Luwero — Nakaseke areas or the Kayunga areas. Have you seen the magnificent tea Estates in the Tooro, Ankole and Kigyezi areas? With tea, there is the temporary problem of low prices. However, the People in the tea sector, have assured me that the price is only affected by the failure to use fertilizers and bad picking methods."-- President @KagutaMuseveni.

“I called the President of Burundi, Ndayishimiye, and asked him: The EAC forces in the DRC were expelled, Burundi remained, and now SADC forces are deploying — has Burundi joined SADC? He said no. I then asked whether Burundi stayed in Congo because of its friendship with Kinshasa and a desire to support whatever Congo was doing. He replied that Congo had requested their presence because they are friends. I asked again: But more and more of your troops are moving north. Yet he had told me earlier that Burundi’s security problems originating from Congo were in the south — in Uvira and Minembwe — and that this was why they entered Congo. So I asked: If Minembwe and Uvira are in the south, what are you doing in the north, in Goma and Rutshuru? He responded, “Who told you we have troops there?” I told him I had been informed by people who showed me evidence, but that I wanted to hear directly from him before taking it as fact. He said, “They lied to you; we have no troops in the north.” I replied that since he, as head of state, was telling me this, I would accept it. Not long after, many of their soldiers were captured in combat. This led to meetings between our two countries. Burundi tried to deny it, and we asked: Are you denying your own soldiers, captured exactly where you said you had none? It became an endless back-and-forth. Even today, all of this was happening before we signed the agreement and continued afterward. What happened in Uvira revealed thousands of Burundian soldiers operating in Uvira, Minembwe, Kalemie, Kindu, and others who had moved to Walikale and Kisangani — more than twenty thousand in total. You have to ask: how did such a large Burundian force enter Congo? Clearly there is a serious problem. They spend their days shelling people in Minembwe with artillery and drones. And those in the international community who talk endlessly — where are they? People have cried out for help, and no one has intervened. Then recently, after the fighting in Uvira, an international outcry suddenly emerged claiming, “It is Rwanda.” So now Rwanda is expected to bear responsibility for all the problems unfolding inside Congo.” President Kagame
