At this point, Ruto seems more like a tourist than a president.
But serious question: what's the difference between TUTAM supporters and Mackenzie supporters?
Monday: private jet to South Africa.
Wednesday: back to Kenya.
Sunday: private jet to Belgium.
Then Belgium to Finland.
Meanwhile, many of his "tutam" supporters are back in Kenya struggling with school fees, rent, taxes, poor roads, and a rising cost of living due to his punitive policies and taxes.
He didn't take them on those private jets.
He left them in Kenya.
Yet they will still defend every trip.
Every expenditure.
Every excuse.
The more I watch this, the more I am reminded of Mackenzie's followers.
Before you get angry, think about it.
Mackenzie would eat but still tell his followers would fast to the end so that they would meet God. And Surprisingly many did fast to their deaths.
Mackenzie would benefit. His followers would sacrifice.
And no matter how strange things became, many still defended him and trusted the process.
Today, Ruto flies around the world in private jets while many of his supporters cannot afford basic necessities.
They suffer.
He travels.
They defend.
He spends.
They justify.
At what point do we stop calling it political support and start calling it what it increasingly looks like: blind devotion and cult-like behavior?
A president is supposed to improve roads, hospitals, schools and the lives of citizens.
Instead, some people seem willing to cheer him on regardless of whether their own lives improve or not.
The similarities in the mindset are becoming harder and harder to ignore.
