There's been a major change in advice for those with bird feeders in their garden, with the public now being urged not to feed birds between May and October. The change in advice is due to a disease called trichomoniasis, which impacts finch species. jrnl.ie/7028601

Brilliant news! The MAMMI 12-year follow-up study has been funded by Research Ireland's Coalesce Programme. Co-designed with women, this lovely project highlights the areas of research that women want and need to be investigated with a clear focus on pathways to impact.

The Bee Guy
The Bee Guy@the_beeguy·
Apologies haven’t been on here all day so missed this. 50/50 mix of white sugar and water is okay to offer in an emergency but should not be left out for general use. Gives the sugar boost they need if they are very low on energy. Best option is to get her to a flower but if none nearby then the sugar water is good. Never offer honey as it can contain pathogens that may be harmful. Note: bumblebee queens often rest for up to an hour between flights so don’t always need rescuing. They’re not particular about where they take these rests and often just stop in the middle of a path/busy thoroughfare and may need to be moved for their own protection. Don’t pick them up but rather offer a leaf or a credit card for them to crawl on to and move them to a nearby flower or safe area. If she’s not in immediate danger best to monitor rather than rescuing and if still not moving after 40/60 mins then intervene. This is general advice and by the look of the bee in the photo you made the right call today. Hope this helps clarify and thanks for caring!🙏🏼🐝

A lovely bit of active Maths today. Children went around the school measuring the water dropping from the ceiling. Tomorrow, we’ll look at the abstract art created by the water stains. ☔️ #Integration
