One of my close friends is coming to my home tomorrow morning by Vande Bharat. The train leaves in the morning by 8 AM and reaches by 1 PM. Since the train is tomorrow, today morning 8 AM, he checked availability. It was in WL. He thought he will check Tatkal by 10 AM. At 10 AM, he realized that he was not Aadhar verified, so he was not able to proceed. He gave up and thought he will take a bus instead. Anyway, he did the Aadhar verification and linked his account. By 8 PM, when he casually logged into IRCTC, he found that there were general tickets available in the same Vande Bharat train 😂😂 He was shocked. It was WL just in the morning. Now, he saw so many tickets available. 12 hours to go for departure. He immediately booked it and then called me. So, some questions: 1. Is it possible that IRCTC keeps a good number of tickets for Tatkal and hence General gets filled quickly and moves to WL? This way, many people book using Tatkal due to no other option. 2. If the Tatkal tickets remain, then does IRCTC automatically bring them to General as the departure is nearing? This would ensure that they sell all the tickets. I thought I should share this with my audience. This learning of the algorithm was fascinating for me 😃😃 Not sure how friendly it is, but worth sharing !!! Views?? #FI
