@SolRidley commander's popularity is the symptom, not the cause i haven't bought cards to update my commander decks in years, but that doesn't infringe on my enjoyment of the format

to be clear i don't even dislike commander, i have a deck myself and think it's an interesting concept. i just wish it wasn't the only format people played nowadays

MTG has developed as a game/community in the exact opposite way as smash. the rise of commander over everything else is like if smash started in its competitive 1v1 state by default but then someone invented free for alls with items and it took over the game
