@OliDugmore Education is NOT a Public Good. It is a Merit good - society deems it to have enough worth that it should be provided for all. It is ironic that Tony Blair was the great advocate of 50% of students taking degrees.

‘We have nearly halved net migration’ can only mean the PM claiming Labour is responsible for fall. And if that’s what he’s claiming, it’s not misleading or an untruth or a falsehood — it’s a lie.

@sebastiansalek Unfortunately, the previous backlog was built up on the back of doctors striking. That was solved by Labour giving the doctors a massive pay rise so…they are back to work and the NHS waiting lists are down but the govt budget is blown.

@Haggis_UK This is really a non-topic. It is accepted that trainee teachers can qualify whilst in the classroom. Teach First was one such system and other SCITT courses provide the same possibilities. Insist every teacher employed either has, or is training for, the PGCE.

But the money wasted on subsidising private schools can be used to improve state schools. Read about Finland. No private education and rated the best in the world.
