As of today, Oregon has reported 20 measles cases since the start of 2026. We encourage people to ensure they are protected against measles. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases in the world, and it can be quite severe and even cause death. The good news is that two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are 97% effective in preventing measles. Call a health care provider to learn more about becoming vaccinated. Measles is spreading in Oregon. Watch this update to learn how measles spreads, symptoms to watch for and ways to protect yourself and your loved ones: ow.ly/6t0i50YLq1V

🗓️ April 18 is #NationalTransgenderHIVTestingDay, when we recognize the ongoing impact of #HIV on transgender communities and highlight the importance of regular HIV testing and access to HIV prevention and care services. HIV testing is the entry point to HIV prevention and treatment services, yet a variety of structural barriers can make it difficult for transgender and nonbinary people to access testing.🌈

💝 The Multnomah County Community Health Center is thrilled to announce that Ali Wright, a physician assistant at the Northeast Health Center, was presented the American Heart Association’s prestigious Richard Silliman Legacy Award at this year's Oregon and SW Washington Heart Ball in late February. This award recognizes medical professionals who treat patients with innovative healthcare programs that provide both current and long-term health benefits. 🏆In North Portland’s King neighborhood, Ali launched an innovative four-week group-care program for patients living with diagnoses of hypertension and diabetes. 🩺 Ali says, “In four weeks of classes, I have the opportunity to hear about their families, their eating habits, their exercise, stressors, successes. This is a much fuller picture of our patients than I can get in a regular 15-minute appointment.” 👟"Ali is the only person I know who will start an assessment by looking at the patient’s shoes so he can literally see how they walk in this world,” said Katie Thornton, Regional Primary Care Manager for North and Northeast Health Centers. “He has been a part of the fabric of the Northeast Health Center for more than 10 years. He’s an amazing provider and human."

A new measles exposure location has been identified in Gresham, and OHA and Multnomah County public health officials are urging people to talk to a health care provider about their risks if they believe they were exposed. People might have been exposed if they were at the following location at this date and time: • Mt Hood Community College, Gresham Campus Academic Center Building 17, main level, 26000 SE Stark St., Gresham, between 10 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. Monday, April 13. People at this location during this date and time should call their health care provider right away. Do not go in person without calling first. The best protection against measles is the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine. To learn more about measles in Oregon, visit: ow.ly/ETc050YKytL
