I actually back this. More nations turned out to pave the way for more #WorldCup stories. Main -ve was it became harder not to qualify from group stages with eight 3rd place teams making the knockouts. 64 teams and top 2 go through from every group - more rest for players too

Gutted for #Colombia. What a quarter-final that could have been against #Argentina. Had the chances against #Switzerland but they weren't clinical enough. Think Scaloni would prefer to take on the Swiss. #ARGSUI

In all seriousness, have no clue what to expect with Nicky Hayen but it’s a change of tact from the board. Moved away from the “big name” options and gone for someone under the radar. Seems closer to Kompany tactically than Parker based on what I’ve read. #twitterclarets

Big news. Personally, I’m benching him and going Konsa, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly. Reece James can offer tactical flexibility though and can see that being useful to Tuchel in a game. Right back/wing back or midfielder. Useful rotation with Rice/Anderson too.
