You get home in the evening after a full-time job, exhausted and there’s still a whole game project waiting for you...

an Eggstremely Hard game - BBear Studio
My game is about to hit 50,000 wishlists (!!), and a huge part of that is thanks to @IndieGameJoe This past week alone brought +6,387 wishlists after his post. What Joe is doing for indie devs is incredible, it’s a reminder that one thoughtful share can truly change everything for small devs like me. Thank you for supporting indie games and helping dreams grow 🪿

@RedDuelist I really enjoyed reading your experiences and advice. I completely agree—marketing is a whole discipline on its own, and even if not on your busiest dev days, putting in consistent time for it every single day is essential, whether you feel like it or not.

There are ways to do it, but as many others also say, marketing is its own whole job in itself. If you can fit it in your process to record things as you go, it makes it easier; then be sure to use a social media planning tool and plan ahead. There are event trackers to apply to events; Discord is another thing that you could dedicate yourself to for a couple of minutes to an hour a day. It's a per-person thing; one can work following a dedicated blocked schedule with smaller tasks and a fully planned-out day, while others work better with whenever something pops up. It's good to know for yourself what kind of dedication you can give to it, what you find most fun yourself, and what tasks you find most tiresome, i.e., not a Monday person? Don't plan in your most tiresome tasks on that day 😂
