Munching Matilda
@MunchingMatilda
Two Australian women in the UK sharing recipes, tips, food memories and opinions.

Just landed in Heathrow Airport T3. Went into M&S. Three @marksandspencer staff speaking in another language. I asked them “What language are you speaking?” They responded “Hindi” I have a voice recording & their names to report to M&S. We must confront them every time.

Why is an air crash in India treated like it happened in the UK?

GBBO: In Australia, the 70s was the era of Tuna Mornay. As @georgialewis76 can confirm, tuna mornay was so awful that you would not feed it to your dog or cat. It was an abomination of a dish.

Great for livening up stews and casseroles, I use it in my bloody Mary tomato soup (served with a shot of vodka...), and in a pinch, it can be mixed with hot water for an emergency stock.

Back in the 70s, when money was tight towards the end of the month, Mum used to make fritters. Some flour, an egg, water, and whatever she had to hand - a can of corn, a courgette, a bit of ham, anything really. A cheap and easy way to bulk out a meal.

Liking @jollyolly choice of orange wine 🥂🥂 for #GeorginaHayden's chicken on #SaturdayKitchen It's from Crete & apparently the skins have only been macerated in the wine for 7 days & isn't too tangy @SaturdayKitchen
