When Allah places a feeling, a dream, or a desire deep inside your heart, it's not random. It's a gentle sign from the Most Loving One that this is something He wants goodness in for you too. And if your heart keeps getting pulled toward a du'a... then know this - the moment you are guided to ask, a response has already begun. Maybe you can't see it yet, maybe it's unfolding quietly, but your Lord never lets a sincere prayer return empty. Keep asking, keep hoping, and trust the One who placed that desire in your heart in the first place.

5 Islamic Habits to Reduce Overthinking
1. Stop saying “what if”
“What if they leave?” “What if I fail?” “What if everything goes wrong?”
Shaytan thrives on hypothetical fear. He keeps your heart stuck in possibilities that may never happen.
Replace it with:
قَدَّرَ اللَّهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ
QaddarAllahu wa ma sha’a fa‘al
“Allah has decreed, and whatever He wills, He does.”
The Prophet ﷺ said: “If” opens the door to Shaytan. (Muslim 2664)
2. Stop complaining
Complaining trains your heart to focus on what’s missing instead of what’s already there.
The more you speak نقص (lack), the more you see it everywhere. The more you speak gratitude, the more Allah increases you.
Say it now, from your heart:
الحمد لله
Allah says:
“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.” (Qur’an 14:7)
3. Stop rehearsing disasters
Constantly imagining worst-case scenarios makes your heart fear creation more than the Creator. You don’t need to live a pain that hasn’t even arrived. Your job is effort. The outcome belongs to Allah.
“Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.” (Qur’an 9:40)
4. The 10-second waswas rule
When a thought comes, pause and ask:
Is this bringing me closer to Allah or pulling me away?
Not every thought deserves attention.
If it’s from Shaytan, seek protection:
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Then recite:
• Ayat al-Kursi
• Surah Al-Ikhlas
• Surah Al-Falaq
• Surah An-Nas
This is your spiritual protection.
5. Stop comparing your life
Comparison steals peace faster than anything. Your life, your timing, your rizq… all written specifically for you.
When you see something you like, say:
اللهم بارك (Allahumma barik)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Look at those below you and not at those above you, so that you do not belittle the blessings of Allah upon you.”

when you stand in Tahajjud tonight, don’t just ask for more rizq, ask Allah to remove what’s blocking it: arrogance, laziness, bad habits, ingratitude, poor habits and sin. Alongside du‘a, self-reflection and purification that unlocks divine sustenance.
Sometimes it’s not lack of provision, but inner barriers that hold back blessings.
