On Dec 18, an owl was found to be tangled up in a soccer net at MHS. SRO Riemerts and CSOs Nordhoff & Chalos helped to cut him free and then resident Laura Stuart kindly drove him to Humane Indiana for care. He is healing and will soon be released back into nature!

Our 20th Annual Cops & Kids Event was a huge success! Over 80 children in need from 35 families went shopping with funds that were donated from the the community. THANK YOU to the Munster Junior Woman's Club and Choice Community Council members who assisted us that evening!

Our officers and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) had a great time assisting with and talking with participants at Munster's annual "Light the Night" on December 5th.

Officers are starting their annual holiday business patrols. They will be working details (in addition to the officers on regular patrol) making field contacts, conducting traffic stops, and stopping in at businesses to provide extra presence and to promote safety this season.

Thank you to the Munster Chamber of Commerce and Leung Family Dental for their recent, generous donations towards our 20th Annual Cops & Kids holiday shopping program! We greatly appreciate their support.

This Veterans Day, the Munster Police Department expresses its appreciation to everyone who have bravely served our country!

As a reminder, Fran-Lin Parkway is a 25mph zone as of November 4th. Always use caution when driving through our residential areas and yield for pedestrians who are waiting to cross the street at crosswalks.

THANK YOU to Munster Mustangs Hockey for holding a fundraiser on Oct. 19th for the Munster PD's Cops & Kids holiday program for area children in need, resulting in a generous $1,420 donation towards the program! Special thanks to organizer Kathy Giba and everyone who attended.

THANK YOU to the Munster Lions Club for providing a $1,000 donation towards the Munster PD's DARE Program! Their donation will help to purchase curriculum items for approximately 2,000 Munster students who will receive safety instruction from our officers this school year!

Our officers (and K9 Vader) had a great time participating in the Munster Fire Department's Open House on October 12th by displaying a squad car, handing out sticker badges, and talking with participants. Great job to the MFD on another great community event!

THANK YOU to the approximately 70 residents who attended our Sept. 26th Crime Watch Meeting! The meeting included crime stats and a presentation from our School Resource Officers about school safety. We appreciate the continued excellent participation in our safety meetings.
