My new essay, 'Justification, coercion, and political responsibility' has been published: tandfonline.com/eprint/7QWWUXV… The essay is a criticism of Steven Wall's excellent 'Enforcing Morality' (CUP 2023). I argue, against it, that we should be wary of the politics of the common-good.

@JTasioulas Oh, yes. The "belief" that culture, arts, and everything that brings a modicum of meaning in life belong only to those with money or power to enjoy it. Everyone else should learn something "practical", after all, they need to bring food home...paternalim in its worst version.

Reminds me of the “progressive” wife of a Cambridge don who unironically informed me that ethnic kids from working class backgrounds should learn the local dialectics spoken by their grandmothers, as this would be of greater use to them. Classism and racism are everywhere.
