Been trying to rationalise my irrational hatred of Arsenal. And think I worked it out. They're the LinkedIn profile of football clubs. Offensive by being so grossly inoffensive. Two reasons. 1. Arteta. Loads of cunts in football management but big enough cunts like Mourinho and Conte and even Ferguson gave you an emotion of despising them as a pay off. Arteta doesn't even give you the pay off. 2. The desperation for love. Great clubs own the hate. Revel in it. They sing "you hate us and we don't care". Arsenal sing "you hate us but why, honestly, please love us, here's a list of reasons as we are perpetual victims". Think that explains my thoughts.

Our GAA clubs in many parts of the west and midlands are struggling to field teams at some grades because of depopulation in their areas. I invited a top level GAA committee to Brussels to meet all MEPs on this issue and they told us their own demographics report shows 26.3% of clubs serve shrinking populations in rural areas, leading to forced amalgamations to survive. In some counties - regrettably - clubs are gone out of existence . I know two grounds with no local club activity anymore so when the European Parliament discussed CAP and the new rural development plan for member states I asked where was the European Commission plan to deal with depopulation? It’s my view that the EU Leader programme companies have a crucial role in keeping these clubs and their parishes alive.
