2/2 Blame for this lies in the past as much as the now. In particular our acceptance of institutional accommodation as acceptable. One silver lining of the pandemic should be that congregated settings are no longer used. The case for ending DP more compelling than ever.

1/2 Hard not to conclude there are two standards during the pandemic: Standard 1 for general public that social distancing is the norm. Standard 2 for people in residential settings including Direct Provision that sharing of intimate space is accepted and 'baked in' to policy.
