11 years ago today, i took my first steps, literally and metaphorically. 🦋 very long story short, i was born with scoliosis but wasn’t formally diagnosed until i was in middle school. after four years of bracing (and relentless bullying), i had titanium rods screwed into my spine to correct the severe curvature. prior to my surgery, i had to medically retire from competitive dance and my position on my school’s volleyball team. i was in a dark place mentally and physically for months afterwards. i had zero friends. i had to relearn how to do everything to accommodate myself. showering, getting dressed, even sitting, were all difficult in the beginning. during my recovery, wwe was one of the only lights in a very dark time. sasha banks, dean ambrose, bray wyatt and paige made me smile and feel feelings when it was very difficult to feel anything at all. one month after my surgery, in june 2015, a petite and energetic blonde graced my screen for the first time. her name? liv morgan. i was immediately drawn to her performance in the ring and her character. for 11 years, i have followed liv’s journey as i have recovered physically and mentally. through the ups and downs of my life, she has been someone i could find joy and refuge from the darkness in. now, i am 26 years old, officially 11 years post-op, and am graduating with my masters degree in december. my journey has not been linear and it has been a struggle at times, but i am so immensely grateful for the people i could seek inspiration and happiness in. i had the joy of meeting mercedes in january and am so stoked to finally meet and hug (and cry over) @Saraya in september after over a decade of being a fan. @YaOnlyLivvOnce, thank you for everything you mean to myself and countless others. i adore you forever 🖤
