@Classicbritcom These are two of my earliest TV memories. I always remembered Dark Towers but had only vague memories of the other, until I got the DVD and realised it was that I was remembering.
@dakinglongwood@ColinSpenc4257 I was shocked to find that out only recently. I grew up with it in the 80s so assumed it was made then and long-running for it to have made such an impact. I guess these things always come back, like the Thunderbirds resurgence in the 90s.
@ColinSpenc4257 Can’t believe they only made one series of it and that way back in the early 1960s and it probably my favourite cartoon show and i was born in 1968
@ChrisChapman81 These releases are always of such a high standard, it always sticks in my throat when I think about Triffids and Hitch-Hikers Guide (not using the HD film footage in the episodes)
NEWS: the BBC are releasing their classic series THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA on bluray. I've been busy making an epic new feature length doc, with contributions from nearly 30 of the cast & crew, including ALL the young stars!
Out in Nov, pre-order here: amzn.eu/d/9Z2aFdI
@disc_connected@SignatureEntUK Its bizarre that they're not only editing it, but proudly trying to spin it like it's a new selling point, getting a put-down version. The people who like the sort of Aussie humour in these films is NOT the sort of person who will agree with these changes.
***ANNOUNCEMENT***
Coming on October 13th on #4K and Blu-ray in the UK from @SignatureEntUK: #CrocodileDundee: The Encore Cut (1986)!
Note: Yes, this is the same compromised cut with censoring. It seems unlikely at this point that the entire film will be released on 4K uncut. I will personally be sharing my opinion by NOT purchasing any releases of this and I hope all of you do the same.
Mick's back… in CROCODILE DUNDEE: THE ENCORE CUT.
Paul Hogan is the legendary Mick Dundee, a larrikin bushman with a unique philosophy, rugged charm and easy humour. American journalist, Sue Charlton, travels to the wild Australian Outback to investigate the tall tale of Mick's croc attack survival, but bites off more than she can chew.
When Mick saves Sue's life, sparks fly, opposites attract, and the adventure really begins. She entices her unlikely hero to New York City, where he conquers the confusing complexities of the concrete jungle. Fall in love all over again with Mick Dundee, in the encore of Australia's most iconic film.
Starring Paul Hogan, Linda Kozlowski, John Meillon (Walkabout), David Gulpilil (Rabbit-Proof Fence) and Ritchie Singer (Dark City), Crocodile Dundee: The Encore Cut is written by Hogan, Ken Shadie, John Cornell and directed by Peter Faiman (The Don Lane Show).

Today's deliveries. I decided to get the media book version of Over the Top as the steelbook just looked very murky on-hand. The kind of hazy background to the art didn't go too well with the metallic paint and it wasn't as vibrant as I'd hoped.
@HorrorCalendar I'm curious about the soundtrack. They literally used all the best and most iconic Silent Hill 2 music on the first film, so I'm wondering if they will reused those themes again, here where they fit best.
RETURN TO SILENT HILL brings the franchise back to theaters in January 2026.
"When James receives a mysterious letter from his lost love Mary, he is drawn to Silent Hill—a once-familiar town now consumed by darkness."
Finished watching this made-for-TV horror from 1973. I liked the really grounded feel it had and the creepy premise. The ending took me by surprise too...
Watched this 1943 film. A good psychological thriller/suspense (not a horror as the name implies). Interesting to read that the film was put of circulation for half a century due to plagiarism claims. 69mins long so an easy watch. 👍
Got the second volume of Shinobi films from Radiance. According to Wikipedia there's only 3 more films after this, so I'm thinking one more volume to go.
Another couple of 90s Matchbox figures from ebay for the collections. These ones were just over the £10 limit I'd set myself for the figures, so maybe I'm starting to get to the rarer figures now. Also preordered the new Thunderbirds bluray set, coming later this year.
@AndrewMGorham I've got the bluray so looking forward to seeing it. My disappointment in modern MCU stuff pushed me back to the superhero stuff from my childhood, like this. I've always really liked this film so will be interested to see it in an even better way.
Impossible to review this objectively as a Pyun fan and even more-so seeing it with like minded fans. One of the most earnest and heartbreaking screenings I’ve been a part of. Seeing Albert’s vision of this film that he loved on the big is an experience I will never forget.
@DiscussingFilm I feel like both sides are to blame here. Him for taking a big paycheck over quality roles, and the studio for being so arrogant to assume every comic character deserves multiple appearances.
Kumail Nanjiani reveals that he signed on to play Kingo in 6 MCU films and a video game.
“You’re like, ‘Okay, so I'll be doing Marvel movies every year, and in between, I'll do my own little things’… None of that happened.”
