AGRA - Sustainably Growing Africa’s Food Systems.
Last evening in Lusaka, AGRA convened a Women Leaders Roundtable alongside the Women Leaders Climate Action Group and @AbsaZambia, advancing the Year of the Woman Farmer as we look ahead to the next 20 years of food systems transformation. With over 20 women leaders and male allies at one table, the conversation surfaced clear themes: access to finance, markets, land, networks and information; reframing sector challenges through a success lens; unlocking smarter approaches to de-risking; and strengthening storytelling to elevate women’s leadership in agriculture. The message was clear: when women have access, systems shift. #AGRA #AGRAImpact #WomenInAg #AGRAat20

AfCFTA Secretariat Official
H.E. Wamkele Mene met with Ms Alice Ruhweza, President of AGRA, in Nairobi to discuss enhanced collaboration between the AfCFTA Secretariat and AGRA in advancing agricultural trade under the #AfCFTA framework. The Secretary-General emphasised the importance of leveraging AfCFTA opportunities to develop agricultural value chains, improve industry competitiveness, and expand market access, with a view to reducing Africa’s food import bill. He further underscored the need to align AfCFTA implementation with continental initiatives, including the CAADP Kampala Declaration, to strengthen agricultural trade and food security. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the domestication of the Agric-Trade Action Plan as a practical framework to promote intra-African agricultural trade, value addition, and inclusive growth. @AGRA_Africa

Hunger is human made, but so are the solutions. Everything said today is something that can be followed with action. We have continental supports, but are we going to stand behind it and make it work? It has a good chance of success if we work for it.” Chilufya Chileshe

To build on Mwandwe's comment. Adaptation to Climate change an strengthening resilience is a critical priority for Africa whose hard earned gains in agri food systems have been eroded or reversed by extreme weather conditions.
