A medical doctor can wake up, get tired of the ward, buy a Macbook, and pivot into tech. A doctor can buy a ring light and become a content creator or filmmaker. But a Senior Software Engineer cannot wake up, buy a stethoscope, and decide to pivot into the operating theater. There is a hierarchy to this pivot game.

Stop using church people as the reason you don’t go to church anymore. There are messy people at your job too… but you still show up for work every day. 🫢

Four professors apply for the same grant. One writes nonstop. One networks hard. One resubmits old work. One co-leads. Who wins?

@sholard_mancity The high number of learners who will not proceed to Senior School is worrying. A certain number of learners will also drop out before they complete the programme owing to lack of school fees.

A Grade 10 parent reached out to me, and later I saw a similar story on the news today. Her child was placed in a public school. She struggled, borrowed, and somehow raised first-term fees. But when the student reported, that’s when the shock came. New charges. Books. Levies. And then this: 3 pairs of school uniforms, each going for over KSh 4,500, bought only from the school. She couldn’t raise the balance. The child is now back home. This is not an isolated case. It explains why over 800,000 students haven’t joined Grade 10. While Cs Migos & ps bitok say fees are "lower or fixed," the reality on the ground is parents paying over KSh 60,000 just to enroll. So let’s ask honest questions: -At this age, should students still be forced to wear expensive uniforms? - Why must every school have its own uniform that parents must buy from one place? - Are uniforms & minor things quietly pushing poor students out of school? I’m not attacking anyone. I’m just asking, are we being honest about what’s happening? If we’re serious about access to education, we must confront these hidden costs , not pretend they don’t exist.
