DJ Konflikt

A nightclub will usually have one peak of energy when it’s the most packed, the most frenzied and the highest level of spending happens. If you are a DJ that thinks “the opener can play anything“ you do not understand how to capitalize on making the venue the most amount of money. Certain exceptions will apply, but probably not frequently.

If I had three musical wishes: 1. Jimi Hendrix lives to be an old man. Releases more albums. Lives to see himself inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 2. Lynyrd Skynyrd never gets on that airplane. 3. Michael Jackson and Prince never have tension. They form a record label focusing on talent, musical ability and creative force. They both live beyond what they did and become the biggest music label on earth.

The answer to almost every problem or obstacle in life can be answer by either: “wake up earlier” or “exercise more” - sometimes BOTH.

Just a friendly reminder that Pioneer/AlphaTheta had the DJM-900NXS2 mixer and replaced it with the A9. That’s like having a gourmet dish and replacing it with a plate full of BUTT.

One thing about my DJ life….. if there a food tab, I am going to make sure it gets used.

Next time you are about to finish your DJ set, get on the mic say, “Who wants to go work out?” This way you can find 24 hour gym friends.

@MyFavoriteDJ Definitely think majority of dj’s would somewhat crumble. Those who care about this craft beyond flashy lights and checks will thrive

Imagine a club where DJs are booked purely based on technical skill. The club only booked DJs that had good scratching, word play, quick mixing and creative transitions. ⬅️ That was every club before social media. How would you fare if those standards were brought back today?

A person make less of a personal connection with music today because they know a new song(s) will be shoved into the algorithm in short order.
