They say this is to prioritize user safety, claiming that E2EE would prevent security teams and the police from accessing messages when necessary, but the decision was praised on the grounds that E2EE would reduce the ability to detect such crimes.
I had always thought that E2EE was real protection against spying.

EU countries are using dumb reasons to do a smart thing. Getting off Teams because it’s a bad and surveillance product is excellent. Getting off Teams because it’s American is just stupid.
