I feel like having a weak mercury (I have a weak mercury in both sidereal and tropical) doesn't mean you're dumb. In fact, I was one of the most intelligent in the classroom. I wasn't a special genius, I was just incredibly good in a lot of subjects. I loved Chemistry and all its maths even in my last year of high school. Besides the STEM subjects... I was also the best at writing, good at art. I was also fluent in multiple languages, simultaneously learning 3 new ones at once. But my ideas were not logically connected, I basically came off stupid to other students and teachers who didn't know me because of my humor, way of talking, and my logic never made sense. I never felt like I had a grip on myself. Yet, I was still "smarter" & had a quicker mind than a lot of people. Maybe not practically. So I assume Mercury is more of an ability to follow things through logically, planning, the potential of your own intelligence to come into fruition. This is why the nakshatra Hasta, the sign in Sidereal Virgo, is represented by the hand... which signifies practicality, the craft, etc. Weak Mercury =/ low intelligence ...Necessarily.
