let me reword this entire tweet, im (not) sorry i feel sympathetic to the poor by limiting what is possibly the only usable search engine in 2026 to those that can afford to pay $10 monthly "just use google" say the people flocking to kagi because the state of google has gotten so shit. their only defense is "just use google" like they speak down to some peasant below them. i might not be shit financially, i can pay the 10 bucks to certain services which i feel provide me value, i do to proton and ive been a subscriber for a year now, and will be for more to come. but that doesnt stop me being sympathetic to those who cant afford it one reason i pay proton is not only does it provide the excelent value to me, their profits go to either good causes or it trickles down to their free tier to keep that running, letting many that cant pay use their services, it misses a few features on the free tier but it isn't as limiting as kagis few searches. im happy for part of what i pay to go towards ensuring others who arent as fortunate can use the service, its part of the reason i enjoy paying proton i personally dont think that over time we should let the only decent internet search engine be one that only those lucky enough can pay for, and with everything else i pay for, i cant exactly say 10 bucks for a search engine is worth it for me. especially when part of how they use your money isnt even on the engine itself, but sent to yandex instead. *commence long eyeroll and sigh*. why would i ever. im not saying the free alternatives are good, infact thats quite literally why im writing this entire post, there should be more options and there should be better options. how would they fund it? donations of course, and maybe not sending money to yandex for the sake of it. id happily donate 10 bucks monthly to a search engine that not only focuses on being good, but doesnt waste their money and also uses it to ensuring those not so fortunate can join in with the experience this is long and probably not comprehensive to you all, its almost 2am, the heat is killing me, yeah

as told by the comments im getting people have very little sympathy to those who might want paid services which are somewhat decent but cant keep paying subscriptions for things most usually wouldny like search engines cuz apparently paywalling the only usable search engine on the planet is a great idea

@RTX_3060 @EroticAlmondd You don't get bombarded with ai, sponsored results and other bullshit And personally i think it delivers more relevant results, sure you'll find what you want on google but it's a lot more annoying these days and it's probably only gonna get worse

@Mystically25 @advaithj1 you need to get the nelly ai to escalate it to support team, so you have to be very good at writing the messages to discord's ai, otherwise you wont be able to get your account back
