For me, it's hardly even a debate. That call should be the first order of business. We can throw around hypotheticals about what it would cost to move up one spot, but even if it costs a pair of additional picks, landing one of the potential stars in this draft is well worth the gamble compared to the swings you’re taking in the 40s, 50s, or 60s. I’m typically an “accumulate as many darts as possible” guy, but when your organization lacks star power across the board, you swing for it. And Ivar Stenberg is worth the price of admission (for me).

Irf reporting that Ryan Johnson will be the #Canucks next head of hockey operations. I’ve heard Gold may have overplayed his hand over the past 48 hours. Certainly the fit between the Sedin’s and RJ will be a much cleaner one than connecting the twins with someone they’d never worked with.

Ryan Johnson could be a perfectly good hire. But I think Gold represents a chance for real change. Someone who could come in and nuke everything. I think there’s a big appetite for that. RJ feels like the same lineage that got this team into this terrible spot.

Now, again, RJ could come in and nail the job. But optics wise it would feel like a much smaller change than what I think a lot of fans want which is a total systemic reset with fresh ideas and perspectives.

ngl, if the Canucks lucked out and somehow grabbed Stenberg at 3, I would care far less that they lost the lottery

@harmandayal2 I’ve been a fan since the 80s. Was already pretty much out the door and test driving the Blues as my new team. (Owners have pretty much opposite profile of Aquilini) This would make the departure so much easier

I don't think the #Canucks are ready for the backlash they'll face in this market if Pierre Dorion is hired as GM. That would legitimately be the last straw for a lot of fans with this team
