Microsoft literally bailed Doube Fine out from closing much earlier.
They launched a Kickstarter asking for about $400,000 for a Broken Age. It raised over $3.3 million. The game STILL went over budget.
They even MADE THEIR OWN CROWD FUNDING SITE just to fund Psychonauts 2.

@Andy_VGC -It's a brilliant team and it's one of my favorites and I understand that they got burned because of the development of Psychonauts 2 (it was literally sinking the team) but after a hit like that I expect something more instead of an Xbox Live arcade-style game release.

@Andy_VGC -Psychonauts 2 was a multiplatform title and by 2022 alone had sold 1.7 million units, becoming a hit in both sales and reviews. Keeper is cool but wasn't even released on PS5, damn it, and Kiln was born as a game jam while they were developing Psychonauts 2 in 2019 -

You don’t buy Double Fine, Ninja Theory, or Compulsion to make commercial hits - that was never their role, and their proposed closures represents a shameful blunder

Is Swan totally wrong? So many in games media trashed or called these games underwhelming at launch and created negative hype. They didn’t even sell well on PlayStation or Switch. A lot of people like myself love hyping up these games but can’t get them to support or buy them all the time. It’s a sad reality of gaming. Sony has been closing studios left and right, same with Ubisoft and others. I really wonder how the industry would look now if COVID never hit, because it does feel like it messed up everything again.

but TR always had shocking deaths since they were introduced with Legend (even a little something in the classic ones but nothing crazy) but the difference is that she didn't make moans like in TR2013 or weird noises like Leon from RE4 OG
