So a sponsor would sponsor mostly for advertising, so chillers is already up with or without BB. and guys big brother is not like God. It’s diff ppl taking shifts

MacG confirmed it himself on Monday. Big Brother Mzansi approached Chiller’s Punch. Not the other way around. That one fact changes the entire power conversation. Big Brother does not just need money. Any multinational corporation could write that cheque. What they needed was cultural credibility, and that is something you cannot buy off a rate card. The Chillers community is hyper-engaged, grassroots and notoriously hard to reach through a standard TV commercial. MultiChoice knew that. So they came to the brand that had the street credibility their legacy platform was losing. This means Chiller’s Punch was not a customer buying exposure. It was a collaborator being recruited for relevance. When the platform approaches the brand, the power dynamic flips completely. The sponsor is no longer sitting at the bottom of the table. They are being invited to save the room. The highest bidder does not always win the slot. Sometimes the slot goes to whoever makes the show feel alive. And MultiChoice decided that was MacG.
