@simonhancock_uk Yes, but are the English players getting enough time in the middle with bat or ball to become better players? My perception is it's really just the big named internationals which may not actual develop the game player wise.

@NBCCCIC Each squad is 12 English players and 3 overseas. Those 12 players would have come from the 8 tier 1 women's county sides, so it's basically a shuffling of the 8 county teams plus a handful of internationals.

Genuine Question as don't watch it enough. Is the Hundred in the Woman's game a) developing home grown talent and/or b) giving existing non England players an opporrunity to develop?

@MikeJ_A Shift the Blast out of the way, spend millions of marketing and host a game in London on bank holiday Monday. Of course people will turn up. It's annoying to see it portrayed as 'Everyone loves the Hundred.

Henry is staring to annoy the hell out of me now. A big crowd at a women’s game and to him it justifies everything. 4 home games at eight venues. What about the 18 counties Henry, all the people who could have gone to those? But no, fewer games, players and fans makes it ok.
Henry Moeran@henrymoeranBBC

The tournament will never please everyone, but having over 16,000 in for the Women’s Hundred fixture is a triumph for the growth of women’s sport. And the fact that a sell-out crowd are choosing spend a sunny Bank Holiday at any cricket can only be good news for the game.

@DanielsDeanJ Is very mixed in lower divisions. Increasingly have to take into account the amount of non players involved and impact of a whole day watching the rain on them.

@NBCCCIC That’s probably right, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in lower division cricket. I played all my career in the lower reaches of Dorset league cricket but the ethos of clubs could’ve changed and it’s infinitely harder without umpires.

@DanielsDeanJ I get that and agree .... although lower division cricket doesn't have Umpires more often than not, so in many ways the forecast takes out the preference of any one team

@NBCCCIC I just don’t think you can call it off on a forecast, it’s open to massive abuse in league cricket. Friendly cricket is very different of course.

@DanielsDeanJ Not even lower divisions, with no Umpires, when the forecast is proving to be accurate eg forecasted light rain from 8am (rain started), through to 11am (still raining at 10.30) and forecast to get worse?

@nassercricket @Athersmike maybe a drinks break every 40 mins and that the only time a drink, change of gloves etc are allowed. Player injured: 2 minute assessment then either carry on or go off for treatment. Use the bits that work from tennis et al
